Discipleship Training School = DTS
Who is the DTS for?
For those who seriously want to know God, His heart, His ways, His plans and who want to be formed to live a life where He is in everything, through the whole week! The DTS is also prerequisite for all other University of the Nation schools, and is a requirement for serving as staff anywhere in YWAM.
Purpose
to GATHER and CHALLENGE you to worship, listen to and obey God, releasing you (in the context of the DTS) to serve through evangelism, intercession, acts of compassion and other expressions of God's heart for the world, possibly even pioneering new ministries.
to INSPIRE and CULTIVATE growth in your relationship with God resulting in Christlike character, which is based on a solid Biblical foundation, the work of the Holy Spirit and the personal application of Biblical truth, especially concerning God's Character, the Cross and empowering Grace.
to SHARPEN your ability to relate to, learn from and work with people, including those of different cultures, personalities and perspectives.
to further EQUIP you to serve God's purposes either in or outside of YWAM Family of Ministries, strengthening a commitment to reach the lost, especially the unreached, to care for the poor, and to influence all areas of society.
to IMPART the vision and foundational values of Youth With A Mission International as well as that of our location and to provide you with information regarding a variety of opportunities for service.

Outreach phase (field assignment):
Teams are sent out for two months of evangelism in cross-cultural situations. The emphasis is on the application of principles taught in the DTS lecture phase.
Duration and Languages
The DTS is an intensive, five-month training program. The first three month "Lecture Phase" is based at our training facility in Dalarna and the remaining two month "Outreach Phase" that normally travels to another country or culture to 'put into practise' what you have learnt. The DTS is mainly in English and then translated into Swedish or Korean as appropriate for the school's focus. It is not necessary for you to have knowledge of the second language in order to do the school.
Costs
A DTS is not 'free' It may cost you your 'career' and even your 'life'. Our prayer is that you will be changed for eternity!
But yes, a DTS does cost money! Our school fees cover your food, housing and teaching for the period you are with us. Airfares and transportation to and from your school and/or outreach location can vary greatly and are not included in our basic 'ground fees'.
The 2010 school fee is divided in two. The school cost for the entire 5 months is 25,500 SEK which covers food, housing and lecture costs. The cost for your outreach travel is not included in this price as that cost will vary, depending on outreach location (expect airfares/travel costs of 5,000-12,000 SEK) Naturally, these fees do not include your pocket money and personal spending.
The next DTS starts 1st October 2010. Read this for more details.
